How to Quickly Uninstall Office for Mac

Apple’s made uninstallation processes extremely simple on Macs. For most programs, you can simply drag the application from your Mac’s Applications folder to the Trash can, restart your computer, and it’s done.

Note however this might not always work for Office programs. This is because Office has several subfolders saved on your hard disk to make all its different functions work properly. To do a complete uninstallation, you may need to remove it manually.

How to Uninstall Office for Mac 2011

Step 1: Quit all active Office applications on your Mac

Step 2: In Finder, open your Applications folder

Step 3: Click on your Office for Mac 2011 folder and drag it to the Trash. Repeat this for each separate Office for Mac 2011 app in the Applications folder

Step 4: Empty the Trash, and then restart your Mac to complete the process

How to Quickly Uninstall Office 2016 for Mac

Step 1: Quit all active Office applications on your Mac

Step 2: In Finder, open your Applications folder

Step 3: Click on your Office 2016 for Mac folder and drag it to the Trash. Repeat this for each separate Office 2016 for Mac app in the Applications folder

Step 4: Empty the Trash, and then restart your Mac to complete the process

How to Quickly Uninstall Office 2019 for Mac

Step 1: Quit all active Office applications on your Mac

Step 2: In Finder, open your Applications folder

Step 3: Click on your Office 2019 for Mac folder and drag it to the Trash. Repeat this for each separate Office 2019 for Mac app in the Applications folder.

Warning:  Before deleting the Outlook app, if you’re using POP/IMAP server, ensure you export your mailbox before your entirely delete your profile. You can do this by going to File > Export and follow the on-screen guide.
